It really IS smart!

smart

notes

livescribe pulse smartpen

I got a first-hand demonstration of this smartpen over coffee with my niece the other day and it was nothing short of amazing.

the pen & dot paper notebook create an incredible paper based computing system (this one was purchased from Target for about 150-200)  A tiny camera built-into the pen essentially acts as a tracking device when used with interactive dot paper–

It can record what’s being said while taking notes – so later when revisiting that page – can replay what was being said at the time you were writing – with just a tap of the pen on that section of notes/paper.

This was the first I’d heard of this technology but seeing is believing.

features include:
the ability to translate English to Spanish, Arabic….and as other languages become available they can be added to the pen through website updates from my understanding.

a financial calculator, embedded speakers
Ever seen someone play a paper piano?
It’s true, I saw it with my own eyes!

Through a pen cradle - charge and connect it to your pc – to transmit, store and share data as well as get website updates - just as you would for other software.

Aside from the display on the pen, its appearance is typical and the
dot paper notebook looks like a standard paper notebook except it has tiny dots that even upon close inspection are barely visible.

likely to top wish lists in the coming weeks and months ahead, I envision great time saving potential with extreme accuracy in this technology –truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

After witnessing this pen in action, I checked out some online video demonstrations but it’s hard to beat a live product demo -

seeing is believing!

No Video Camera? No Problem.

joi

flowersNo video camera?
No problem.

Yes you can create video formatted  presentations without a video camera using movie making software that you likely already own. These programs allow you to add transitions, effects, audio, music, titles, captions and/or credits to still photos - all without a video camera!

One such program comes bundled (since Windows ME) with windows operating systems and it’s called Windows Movie Maker. The program allows you to create and edit video/presentations and format files from still photos that may be used on your website, blog and other video sites.

In the past few weeks, I did finally began practicing using my video camera BUT my 1st attempt at creating a narrated listing tour today was done with -0- visual "video camera" footage.

The audio may be a bit like story-time (hope you don’t fall asleep) of course music would be a great add!(for the next time crew)
Check it out if you have a chance –

This “Tour was created with still photos and audio using Windows Movie Maker  No Video Camera Required.

Note: There are sites that offer the Windows Movie Maker Downloads FREE:
i.e.
CNET -FREE Windows Movie Maker download for XP

Is that your video on americantowns?

americantowns
Is your video on Youtube referencing a state/city/town or community?  If so, it may also be showing on americantowns website

If you like the idea of your Listing Video’s being searchable on americantowns, one way to expedite the process is to upload your video to YouTubeand “tag” it with the City & State and add the “tag”americantowns

I noticed several listing videos from TourFactory and other sites so it’s likely that sources contributing to americantowns may not be limited to YouTube.

You can learn more about local and community information available on americantowns by visiting them online and searching for your city. Enjoy!

"Fair Time" in Washington

Each year as Seafair festivities come to an end, the Fairgrounds in Washington come alive and August '08 is no exception.

The Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, continues through Labor Day week-end -September 1st with carnival rides, exhibitors, booths, entertainment, and more. Don't forget to check the race event schedule at Evergreen Speedway before you head out - a Fair-Race combo ticket might come in handy since the speedway is located within the fairgrounds.  You might even be able to catch their Fireworks Show.

Lake Stevens - Hitting Home!

Burlington was host to the Washington ALB Junior "A" Division District Baseball Tournament last week-end in a double elimination event. Burlington and Lake Stevens emerged as the top two teams, each earning a spot to compete at the state level scheduled to begin this week-end in Spokane WA.

The corn was popping in the concession stand and the balls were flying on the field last Saturday, when Lake Stevens hit their way home to a 10 run gap win as one games final score reveals below. There's something about a day at the ballpark with family, friends and fellow fans.

Seattle volunteers wrapping up a Yakima Valley work week....

habitat

habitat

High School Youth & Adult Volunteers from Seattle's
St Therese Parish are wrapping up this week in Eastern Washington. Each year fundraisers help send students/volunteers age 15 + to Habitat for Humanity work-camp in the Yakima Valley.

My brother and his wife; Jim & Lucita Valiere, their family, friends, and the St Therese community have helped organize fundraising events, work crew-construction volunteers and chaperones to participate each summer in a week-long workcamp in Yakima for the last 12 years. Jim's also contributed to the Habitat for Humanity building projects for the past 20 years and 2008 is no exception. This year their group included two recruits all the way from California.

Volunteers come from as far as Missouri to Yakima’s Habitat work-camps where they’re assigned assorted tasks working with builders and other volunteers to help construct new homes in partnership with families in need.

2008 Workcamp Calendar Interested in learning more about the program or a future week-long volunteer mission?
